Product testing is a key component in the success of any new launch and we are very fortunate in our industry that these adventures sometimes classify as work. Our new Mountainlight day pack, the Spirit 12 ($69.95), is likely just hitting stores this spring season and while it’s been extensively tested on the trails of Golden, CO for trail runs, day hikes and mountain bike rides, we took it into some new terrain last week…the great year round fishery of the Big Thompson River, just outside of the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO. We were joined by our regional sales reps from Sanitas Sales Group and our friends from Estes Park Mountain Shop.
The Spirit 12 is a versatile, lightweight hydration compatible day pack that worked perfectly for the day on the water. It comfortably held a 2 liter hydration bladder (not included), rain shell, first aid kit and food for the day with plenty of room to spare. Its weight, comfort and fit had it literally disappear on my back throughout the trip and it was certainly up to the challenge of the day…unfortunately even including a misstep in the river, a quick dunk and subsequent dive into its organized interior to grab my first aid kit and patch up some bloodied knuckles.
Check out some great pics from the day and enjoy the coming spring season and all the recreation opportunities it brings with it…from spring skiing, to pre-runoff fishing, to early season mountain biking to great day hikes and more…
